Rolls Royce Wraith Black Badge
Luxury as you'd expect, with the edge you didn't.
With a name like Wraith Black Badge, what did you expect.
The new wraith has everything you would wish for in a Rolls. Beautiful and elegant design, smooth power delivery, a comfortable ride more akin to sitting on a leather couch at home sipping a brandy than actually driving a car along a road that other mere mortal cars are allowed to use.
Yet this Rolls has an edge. With a 6.6 litre Twin-turbo V12 engine, and a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds, it's a sexy and seductive contender. 2.5 tonnes of sheer luxury is also accommodated by more aggressive engineering - adjusted suspension and improved torque and throttle response.
With all those things in mind, its safe to say that it's a pleasure to drive. Sure you can plod along at 100mph (70 tops mr police officer) and feel like your reclined in first class sipping a cocktail having a massage, or you can put your foot down, be gripped by 623bhp and take those corners with confidence.
It's the design that got me though. Don't get me wrong, alongside photography - cars and going fast are my favourite past time. But the sheer beauty and edge of the design in the Wraith blew me away. The high gloss black paint is startling. Its like Bruce Wayne's daily commuter, just not quite as edgey as the batmobile - but let's be honest, what is.
From the exquisitely designed carbon fibre alloy wheels to the nuances of the interior, it stuns and impresses at every level. There are umbrellas that pop out the suicide doors, so you can always stay classy whatever the weather. How's that for making an entrance.
All in all, not just an amazing car. It's far more than that. Its a second home to those lucky enough to afford it, with a price tag starting at around 275k its, well - you know. Expensive. For most of us, we can only look upon its beauty and dream.
Thanks to Leon @flatoutmagazine for hosting, he has the dream job of testing the best cutting edge (and trendy old) vehicles around and writing about them. Super cool content on a super stylish online magazine. Props.
